CCYA National Board - Biographies
|
Brett Coughlin
President, Eastern Region
The President on the National Board this year is
Brett Coughlin. Brett comes from Cobden, Ontario, and
has lived on a farm all of his life. He has recently
finished school at Kempville College, and is now working
at a feed and farm supply company, as well as running
his own small purebred operation, Hidden Trail Charolais. Brett has been involved
with CCYA for many years, as well as the local 4-H beef
club. He is also involved in hockey and baseball leagues.
In his spare time, Brett enjoys hunting, fishing, four-wheeling
and boating. |

Kelsey Brandon
Alberta director
Kelsey
is from Carbon, Alberta and became involved in Charolais through her
mother’s family. Kelsey is currently attending Red Deer College
and is in her second year of Bachelor of Science in Pre-Veterinarian
medicine. Kelsey has been active with CCYA, acting as Treasurer of the
National Board, and Secretary of the Alberta Charolais Youth
Association. Kelsey was in 4-H for nine years, holding the positions of
President and Secretary of her club. She enjoys sports, working on the
farm, quading, and school. Kelsey works at a feedlot, riding pens,
processing cattle, and driving feed truck. |

Natalie Oram
Vice-President, Eastern Region
This year's vice-president, Natalie Oram is originally from
Central Butte, Saskatchewan. She has been a director on the
CCYA National Board for four years. Natalie grew up
on a cow calf and grain farm with her two brothers and
sister. She has always been interested in agriculture,
and was an active member of her 4-H club for 13 years.
Natalie is currently attending the University of Guelph,
and is enrolled in the college of Agricultural Sciences.
She is excited to serve on the National Board again,
and hopes to build enthusiasm about CCYA, as well as
develop more programs for the youth. Natalie enjoys
farm work, horseback riding, and sports, such as long
distance running and rowing. Natalie hopes to achieve
a Bachelor of Science in agricultural extension, and
raise her own herd of purebred Charolais.

Will Harvie
Alberta director
Will is is from
Olds, Alberta, and will be representing Alberta youth’s
on the National board. Will has just turned twenty this
past august, and has been apart of the Canadian Charolais
youth association for the past seven-years. This fall
Will is attending SAIT, and taking business, as well,
he will be playing junior B hockey. Will’s goal
as a representative is to create more interest into
the CCYA. As well, he hopes to help create a place in
which all juniors will enjoy a learning environment,
learn more about their breed and cattle industry, while
meeting new friends who also share the same interest.

Suzanne Blake
Saskatcehwan director
Suzanne currently lives in Regina, Saskatchewan where is she
is taking Applied Photography at SIAST Wascana Campus. Her intentions
are to eventually own her own Photography Studio and Business. Suzanne
tries to make it back to the family farm whenever she can. The Blake’s
mixed farm is located near McCord, Saskatchewan, called Wood River
Charolais. They raise about 160 Purebred and commercial Charolais and
Red Angus cattle and they have about four sections of land. Suzanne has
been an active youth member for years! She started 4-H in 1993 and has
great intentions of being a member until she is too old. In the past,
Suzanne has been the President of her high school SRC, President of the
local 4-H Beef Club, President of her local 4-H District, Member
Advisor on the Saskatchewan 4-H Board of Directors, as well as, SCYA
President and the 2007 CCYA Conference and Show Organizing Committee
Chair. Suzanne’s hobbies include photography, 4-H, showing cattle,
dance and teaching youth. She enjoyed being your host for CCYA 2007 and
looks forward to seeing you in Old’s next summer!

Brandon Sparrow Treasurer, Saskatchewan Brandon Sparrow lives on the family farm, A. Sparrow Farms
Ltd., at Vanscoy, SK. He currently attends the University of Saskatchewan in his first year of the
Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness Degree. Brandon
is a new member on the board, representing Saskatchewan, and is currently the treasurer
of the National Board. Brandon has been actively
involved in 4-H for 9 years in the Saskatoon
4-H Beef Club, and is currently President of the club. Brandon also enjoys showing cattle, playing
sports and long walks on the beach.

| | Fawn Jackson Secretary, Manitoba Fawn
Jackson is from Inglis Manitoba and has been involved in both the
Charolais and Simmental associations since a young age. She
currently attends the University of Alberta, studying a BSc in
Agriculture. Along with being the secretary for the CCYA national
board she also sits on the University of Alberta Student Council and is
Vice President of the U of A Agriculture Club. In her spare time
Fawn enjoys showing cattle, traveling and playing music. |  | | | Marshall McDonald Manitoba director Marshall McDonald grew up in Brookdale, Manitoba
on the family farm, JMB Charolais. He is currently finishing his last year of a
three year Science degree at Brandon
University. He hopes to
attend Veterinary school and eventually work at a private practice in rural Manitoba. As the
youngest child in a family of 3 children he was introduced to showing cattle at
a very young age. He was involved in 4-H beef clubs for 10 years and held
numerous positions.
