CCYA National Board - Biographies

Brandon Sparrow
President, Saskatchewan

Brandon Sparrow lives on the family farm, A. Sparrow Farms Ltd., at Vanscoy, SK. He currently attends the University of Saskatchewan in his first year of the Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness Degree. Brandon is a new member on the board, representing Saskatchewan, and is currently the treasurer of the National Board. Brandon has been actively involved in 4-H for 9 years in the Saskatoon 4-H Beef Club, and is currently President of the club. Brandon also enjoys showing cattle, playing sports and long walks on the beach.

Ben Farrant
Vice-President, Alberta
Ben is from Lousana, Alberta and will be representing Alberta along with acting as treasurer. His family has a 120 head mixed purebred and commercial Charolais herd, along with some crop land. He has been involved in 4-H for many years and has been attending the CCYA Conference since 2000. He is currently attending the University of Alberta pursuing a BSc in Agriculture.  He is also involved with the FarmHouse Fraternity, which is where he lives, and acts as secretary for the association. He also enjoys playing hockey, working with the cattle and running heavy equipment.

Autumn  Jackson
Secretary, Manitoba

Autumn lives in Inglis, Manitoba where her family owns and operates High Bluff Stock Farm; a mixed farming operation. Autumn is currently attending Lakeland College where she is taking Agribusiness and playing for the college's basketball team. Autumn is also the secretary of the Manitoba Junior Charolais Association and enjoys showing cattle, riding horses and Ukrainian dancing.

Katie MacMillan
Saskatcehwan
Katie is from a family farm at Asquith, SK, Aspendale Stock Farm, that runs a commercial Charolais herd. She has been active with the CCYA for a long time, attending conferences since 1999, and is serving on the National Board as a Saskatchewan Director. Currently she is attending the University of Saskatchewan, in her third year of a degree in Agribusiness. She has been active in 4-H and the Agriculture Students Association at the U of S. Katie works as a penchecker at a feedlot, is a Cloverbud leader for Saskatoon 4-H Beef Club and is a die-hard fan of the Saskatchewan RoughRiders in her spare time.

Russell Gallelli
Alberta
Russell Gallelli grew up in Crossfield, Alberta where he has recently graduated from W.G. Murdoch School.  Russell is attending NAIT in Edmonton, Alberta this fall and starting a two year program in Mechanical Engineering.  Growing up on the family farm, Gallelli Charolais, has lead to his involvement in the Charolais Youth program.  This is his first year on the National Board and he is representing Alberta along with being the Alberta Youth President.  During the last 9 years, Russell has also been very involved with the 4-H beef program, recently receiving his Platium Medallion, the highest award in 4-H excellence.  He enjoys both fitting and showing cattle, participating in numerous shows throughout Alberta. .

Candace Alexander
Ontario

Candace Alexander is very proud to be representing Ontario on the national CCYA board this year. She is the daughter of Keith Alexander from Pine-Lane farms. They have a cow calf Charolais farm outside of Cargill Ontario and encourage you to stop by if you’re ever in the area! Candace is going to Brock University in the fall for Nursing and can’t wait to get started on the National Board..

Haylan Jackson
Maritimes

Haylan grew up in the land of elevators on her family farm, High Bluff Stock Farm, in Inglis Manitoba. She is currently working towards a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Canadian History at Dalhousie University
located in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Haylan has been working in the Charolais industry all her life, attending CCYA confrences, holding positions on the Manitoba Junior Charolais Association Board, and showing animals
 at provincial and national shows. Haylan was a 4-H member for 11 years, holding many different executive positions in her club. She likes to hangout with her sisters and play guitar.
